Shelving Board Wall art

Feels like ages I made any crafts... Oh Wait...IT HAS BEEN AGES.... I did make few cards here and there... but not like I spent good quality time crafting. Lately I have been on pinterest a lot... I did not even want to join- but one of my friends who got hooked on did not stop raving about it... she convinced another friends of ours to join... now friend number 2 raved as well.... the curious bug in me had to check it out... Lo-Behold...it is addictive... ABSOLUTELY ADDICTIVE.... I spend most of my free time on pinterest now and gathered awesome ideas especially crafting and do-it-your self kinds.

So while I pinning ideas on my boards, I came across few ideas that I thought were doable. And with the time I have on my hand right now...I had to work on them. So here is Project 1: Shelving Board Wall Art. Hardware store bought wood, covered with scrapbook paper, a little stamping and voila...a wonderful art piece for my bare walls.
I went to Lowes and asked them for some shelving board... they thought I needed it to make shelves so they showed me a decent quality one... it cost me 12$ and $0.25 to get it cut the way I wanted. But best bucks spent. The board measures 1 ft by 8 ft. I wanted 12" by 12" blocks and could get 8. Although the 8 blocks is tad smaller than 12", still workable.

I painted the sides of the blocks with brown paint, found the right scrapbook paper (considering I scrapbook and make cards...have tonnes of it), glued it to the block. The paper were pretty simple, so I misted them with gold shimmer and rubbed using paper towel-to spread the shimmer. Also sponged some Early Espresso ink on the sides and all over the paper to give a hint of brown. To me the blocks still looked bare. So I decide to stamp- decided to use the medallion with Early Espresso Ink. Final touch- a red gemstone in the middle of each medallion.

It might not be perfect, but considering it is my first attempt, I simply love it. Spent $12.25 to make this wonderful art piece that is going to go on my wall tomorrow. Will definitely put the pic of how it looks on the wall =)

here is how the art looks on the wall :D

Until next time,

Happy krafting!!
