After busy days and the past month super busy with friends wedding, guests and new job...it has been crazy. But now I am getting back into routine and finally getting back to my crafts as well. Thanks to my sister-also my loyal customer :D who ordered a baptism card. I had never made a Baptism card and had to research how they should look. So some research led me to make this-
I looked on Etsy, googled a little bit and found that baptism cards have cross for sure and are pretty simple and clean. This card is for a little girl being baptized... so I used shades of Pink on White base. Since I had sponged the layers with Crumb Cake ink, I used Chocolate chip ribbon to complete the card.
The cross is made using pearls- I truly like how it turned out. I also tried using stitches on the side-although still have to get better at that ;)
Another technique I have been working on is Quilling. It is not new, but new for me. I have been seeing it, but never knew how to do it and finally 2 weeks back I bought myself this Quilling tool box which had all necessary supplies to make items and a booklet to guide. The booklet had these little feet (although theirs looks much better than mine haha). Once I saw that, I knew I wanted to use it in this card. I decided to make them and use however they turn out since I was trying it first time. It is just luck that they turned out decent.
Quilling is technique of rolling paper to make various shapes. It requires slotted tool, needle tool, tweezers, Circle ruler and glue. Ofcourse the paper you use matters too. I found the special quilling papers available are much thinner than regular paper and they are cut in very thin strips longer than 16". There are some basic shapes you learn and then twist turns those shapes to make the desired item you want. Like for these feet, I started by making circle (basic), then made tear drops of those circle(again basic) and then combine 2 tear drops to make 1 sole/feet.
It is not as hard as it sounds or look. You have to give it a try. It is fun especially since you get to play with hands and paper :D (I love doing that). I am thoroughly enjoying it. I intend to make more cards using this method.
